Day 5 Portland to Portland - Condon to Hermiston OR

The nice benefit of all that climbing yesterday - we started the ride today with a 6 mile descent.  Legs felt pretty good after a good night sleep, despite the work yesterday.  Today was a much better day, although it was hot again.  I did a much better job using my gears to conquer the hills.  We had 90 miles and 4000 ft of climbing in front of us.

Here is a picture of where i was: - way down there....

And a bit of the scenery as well:

The ride into and out of lunch was fantastic.  A great pace line with Silk, Jennings and Ron.  Jennings (Lynn) is a 3 time Olympian and bronze medal winner in the 10k meter event in Barcelona.  And a great cyclist too.

The ride after lunch was mainly downhill.  After Silk and Jennings took off, Carlin, Maura, Ian and I ran a pace line for the last 18 miles into Hermiston.  Today was a good day on the bike.

Todays brewery stop is the Hermiston Brewing Company.

According to Strava, this week is my biggest week of cycling ever, and it was only Wed - Sun.  389 miles and 19k of climbing.  By my math, that means only 3411 miles and 138,000 feet of climbing until Maine

Tomorrow we cross over our fist state line as we head to Walla Walla.
