Day 8 Portland to Portland - Lewiston to Kamiah
So far, the weather has been hot, but not wet. Today we awoke to a thunderstorm rolling through Lewiston. Fortunately, it left only wet roads in its wake and our ride departure was not impacted. Since we entered eastern Oregon, the scenery has remained pretty much the same. Huge farms growing wheat and hay. That started to change a bit today as we started to see more trees and forests.
The "highlight" of todays ride was between mile 16 and mile 32. A long slow climb. It was made even more interesting by the Jersey barriers, skinny shoulder and BFTMFs. (Big F ing Trucks Moving Fast). As those who have been following the blog know, if you have to go up for that long, there will definitely be some good "down" time.
Today's down time came after a few miles of "rollers". We have all determined that they should just be called additional hills! Once we crested our last roller, it was a 10 mile descent into Kamiah. I stopped along the way to take a picture, and found one of our guides, on the way back up!
This is a pretty small town and there is not much happening. That required resorting to the last of the "uber" gift beers for today's craft brew selection. This one was not nearly as good as the one yesterday.
Montana here we come. Big day tomorrow, followed by a short ride into Missoula and then a REST DAY. 😊

Hope weather and BFTMF are not bad today. Love the sunflowers and barn pics. Good luck in Montana!

ReplyDeleteRick, glad everything’s going well so far. Oregon is great and Montana will be, too. Keep those wheels turning but enjoy your rest day.
