Day 17 Portland to Portland - Sheridan to Gillette WY
No sugarcoating today. This was the first day I woke up tired on the trip. But we had 109 miles and 4600 ft to climb. The whole day I felt like I was pedaling in mud. To top it off, we had a headwind for most of the ride and as you will see from the lack of pictures below, it was pretty stark and ugly. We did come across The Spotted Horse. A biker friendly establishment. The only place to eat or drink for 20 miles each direction. We also got to see the world's largest coal mine. Sorry - no picture of that. I just wanted to be done. All in all, today was a forgettable day. I am really looking forward to the rest day in Rapid City and a visit from Kathleen! I just have to ride 185 more miles over the next 2 days to get there.
Tonight is our last night in Wyoming. So I did have to visit the Big Lost Meadery and Brewery for 1 craft beer.

Walt Longmire and his buddies will help get you there! Have a great day.
