Day 19 Portland to Portland - Spearfish to Rapid City

No.  I did not get in the car and ride to Rapid City with Kathleen.  I went for a 74 mile bike ride with 5000 ft of climbing.  All before lunch.

Kathleen opted to take a ride in her mustang to Devils Tower.

I am glad I chose to ride.  Today's ride was very scenic.  We left Spearfish via Spearfish Canyon.  Huge walls of rock and towering trees.  You almost didn't realize we had started climbing.  1200 ft by the time we exited the canyon and tackled the first actual climb of the day.

We rode through Historic Lead, SD and almost to Deadwood before turning into the Black Hills National Forest and on to Rapid City.

Just before our final climb, we came across The Beatles.  Totally random, but we all had to take a place in line as we crossed Abbey Road.

Once in Rapid City, we all started the process of resting. Ice baths, massages, laundry, etc.  Kathleen and I found the statue of George Washington and dressed him in a Washington College Cycling jersey.

I did get a craft beer tonight.  Cold Canyon Cream Ale.  I forgot my phone, so no picture today.  Tomorrow we are off to se Mt. Rushmore and Custer National Park. Oh, and another Fantasy Football draft.  3 in 3 days....

  2. Great pics and good job on doing more exercise before 1100 than most people in an entire year.

George looks great in his WC jersey. Have fun with Kathleen at MR!

  3. I like that Washington College kit. Do I have to send Tristan there in order to get one?
