Day 25 Portland to Portland - Sioux Falls to Fairmont, MN

Today we had a 126 mile ride as we crossed over into our 7th state - Minnesota - the land of 10,000 lakes.  The weather was definitely cooperating today.  The rain cleared and the morning temperatures were in the low 50s. There wasn't much climbing today, so we just had to get rolling.  One of our group had a flat early in the ride, so we played catchup until the 44 mile rest stop.

The landscape has changed and we started to see a lot more green, as well as corn fields as far as you could see. not a ton of picture opportunities today, but we did have lunch on a lake.  Just 9,999 more to see in MN.

After lunch, we had a great pace line going.  We had 66 miles to go and 7 riders working to keep us rolling at 18+mph.  That was a great way to chew up the miles.

Before I wrap up for the day, I Thought I would share a picture of the Bighorn mountains from yesterday.  We were there just over a week ago, crossing the Rockies.  Yesterday they looked like this:

As we rolled into the town of Fairmont, MN, we came across a Trek bike shop along another lake.  I stopped in to see if they had a few items I was looking for. They did not, but Larry and Dave definitely wanted to talk.  They even offered to sell the shop to us.

Larry, the guys with the beard, hopped on his e-bike and led us past the local brewery and to a shortcut to our hotel.  It was greatly appreciated, as we visited the brewery later, and had one of the better beers I have had on the trip.  Fairmont Brewery Copper Pils.

Tomorrow we head to Austin, MN.  Most famous as the home of SPAM.  80 miles so we should be at the hotel early.  I hope so - it is NFL Sunday!
