Day 42 Portland to Portland - Cazenovia to Piseco NY

When we got on our bikes this morning, we all knew we had to try to out run the rain.  93 miles and 3700 ft of climbing as we headed into the Adirondacks.

Carlin, Mark and I made a valiant effort to defy Mother Nature.  We cruised past rest stop 1 and stopped at rest stop 2 just long enough to get our picture next to the an abandoned prison.

We rolled into lunch, at 1030 am, still dry but racing the rain.  We devoured our lunch, looked at the radar and set off again.  Rest stop 3 was at mile 77 and we made it there with only a light rain coming down.  That is where Mother Nature caught us and made us pay.  Rain for the next 17 miles to the hotel.  It wasn't too bad, and our quick pace meant  we were finished by 130 today.  Unfortunately, it looks like we are going to get to ride in the rain all day tomorrow.

The early beer of the day was from the cooler.  A Amber ale form Dark Horse - the brewery we visited in Marshall, MI.  No breweries to visit today.

Tomorrow is our last day in NY.  Ticonderoga and then Hanover NH and North Conway NH are all that is left until Portland and the ocean.

  3. The home stretch! Well done to all. The Atlantic Ocean will look great to everyone I am sure. They may even have a craft beer in Portland or ocean side.

  5. You're close to my old stomping ground in Upstate NY - Plattsburgh, Lake Champlain and the Adirondaks. Beautiful country and lumpy!
